Genie Knuckle boom lifts are powerful four wheel drive and four wheel steering capable machinery which allow work to be done effectively, even if the terrain is rough. The ALC 1000 electronic controls are a menu-based system that allows the user to easily calibrate the equipment and its components. System diagnostics are offered in many languages. There are dual fuel options available on the Z-80/60 model. The optional Deutz diesel powered engine is turbocharged, but quiet. It allows for improved performance at higher altitudes. In addition, it carries more than enough torque for better terrain- and grade-ability.
The 4-wheel drive ability and full-time positive traction adds better traction for tough terrain. The Z-135/70 only offers four-wheel steering. Optional features on this unit comprise coordinated, crab, rear wheel and front wheel steering to give the machinery extra agility. On the Z-80/60 the full-time active oscillating axle helps enhance wheel contact on uneven ground. All of these features make Genie Knuckle Boom lifts easier and smoother to operate on uneven terrain.
Although these models are larger compared to other Genie engine-powered articulating Z-booms, they have features such as continuous 360 degree turntable rotation and telescoping jibs to provide the user with remarkable reach and range of motion. The design of the Z-boom gives the units outstanding over and up positioning capability that ranges from 8.83 meters on the Z-80/60 unit to 23.01 meters on the Z-135/70 unit. The XChassis expanding axle is an innovatively engineered mechanism used for extending and retracting axles in and out of stowed position. If the axle is stowed the width of the Z-135/70 model equipment is just 2.46 meters. For easier transport, the Z-80/60 has fixed width axles.
