How to Charge a Scissor Lift
A lot of people appreciate the convenience of using a scissor lift. The ease of working and the security offered from the lift's basket provide a lot more piece of mind than attempting to perform a similar task working off the step of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this specific equipment make it the best choice for performing tasks from heights.
The majority of scissor lifts are operated by batteries which are internally mounted in the lift's base. These batteries need to be charged after a long shift or due to sitting after extended periods without use. It is a simple task to charge the batteries. This could be done without any particular equipment or tools and needs no heavy labor.
In order to prepare the scissor lift for charging, park the equipment near an electrical outlet. Make sure you are doing this in a well-ventilated area. Next, in order to avoid another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the big red button located inside the basket of the lift, near the charger or the control box. Find the battery charger on the base of the lift on the right side. Often, units which are older would have the charger mounted on the rear of the lift.
Next, plug the charger into the AC extension cord. Be sure you are charging in an area that is well ventilated and afterward plug the extension cord into an electrical outlet. In order to avoid accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is intentionally short. This is because if any excess length were to drop out of the battery charger storage place when in use, extreme danger could likely happen.
