Motorized Pallet Truck
A Motorized Pallet Truck often goes by other names like: Walkie or Walkie-Rider. These pieces of equipment are essentially a motorized type of a pallet jack. They come in both "Rider" versions and "Walkie" models.
The walkie model as the name implies, is made to enable the operator to walk alongside the machine while they lift and move loads. The operator stands on a small platform on the Rider model. The rider models are great for frequent transporting of cargo over extended distances within warehouses and manufacturing operations. They are extremely maneuverable and fast.
It is important to remember that there is no safety cage on this model and therefore, it is not recommended to transport tall or unstable loads with these equipment. A rider might be the best answer if you are looking for an inexpensive method for moving cargo from one place to another. If though, you are required to transport heavy loads short distances, and prefer to use a more employee-friendly unit rather than a pallet jack, the walkie model could be the best option.
Order Selector
An Order Selector also goes by the name of Order picker. This equipment is specifically designed for manual handling of less-than-pallet-load quantities in racking. There are fixed forks attached to a platform in the Man-up design. This particular platform elevates both the load and the operator in order to facilitate manual unloading and loading from racking areas.
Order Selectors are normally very narrow aisle vehicles that could work in aisles of less than six feet. They are really useful pieces of equipment in physical inventories as well as in cycle counting situations. Order selectors are available in lift heights up to 40 feet high, although models which range in the 20 to 30 foot range are a lot more popular.
