Various Classes of Aerial Lift
A particular type of heavy equipment which allows a person to be lifted into the air is aerial lifts. These machines are normally utilized to complete repairs on places that are high up in the air such as on roofs, near street-light fixtures and power lines. Similar to most devices, there are different types of aerial lifts which can be used to carry out different tasks. For the utmost safety, each and every type of different type of equipment requires right training and specific qualifications before operation.
Scissor Lifts
Scissor lifts are usually referred to as Genie lifts. They are considered the most basic kind of aerial lift. These lifts are made of a platform that is lifted up by means of pneumatic power and are mostly used indoors. Normally, scissor lifts are the safest type of lift models. When totally compressed, these scissor lifts are capable of being driven like big carts. Usually, when the platform is extended, they are not able to be driven for safety reasons. Before anyone could utilize these tools, workers should be certified as operators.
Boom Lifts
Compared to a scissor lift, boom lifts are much more complicated type of aerial lift equipment. A boom lift has a wide base in order to keep the lift anchored. It utilizes a jointed arm which has a bucket on the end of it. There is a control box situated in the bucket which allows the operator to lift and lower the bucket. As the arm of the boom is jointed, it can also move from side to side. The boom lift looks like a metal scorpion's tail. Traditionally, it is used in outdoor construction applications. The boom lift is considered to be more risky to operate than scissor lifts, thus, operators have to be licensed individually for these types of lifts.
