The forklift is an essential piece of machinery in most businesses that operate distribution centers, warehouses, storage handling and industrial plants. This great machine, the forklift is made of numerous parts, such as the important carriage, the engine, the power source and the wheels. Forklifts generally have a variety of attachments also. The following are a few of the most essential parts of a lift truck.
Lift Truck Engine - the forklift truck is made with a power source at the rear of the equipment. Different kinds of forklift truck have various types of engine which require varying power sources. For instance, a lift truck with an internal combustion engine can have as its power source any of the following: diesel, gasoline, CNG gas or LP gas. Electric motor lift trucks receive their power from a battery or fuel cells.
Frame of The Truck - The frame of the truck is the base of the lift truck and the most important of all the lift truck components. This forms the machine's core. All other components of a forklift are attached to the base, like the axles, mast, wheels counterweight and overhead guard. Hydraulic fluid and fuel tanks could also be part of the frame assembly.
Counterweight Lift Truck Components - the counterweight is what enables the machinery to be balanced while lifting heavy loads. This part is made of heavy cast iron and is connected to the rear-end of the forklift truck. The counterbalance balances the frame of the truck to prevent it from tipping over when a load is being carried or lifted on the front. The heavy lead-acid battery in an electric forklift provides balance and can function as part of the counterweight.
The Cab Area - The cab is also referred to as the operator compartment. Lift trucks will sometimes have closed cabs while others will be open to the air. There are really lots of components located in the cab for operating the forks. The cab contains such important parts like the pedals, seats, switches, levers, operator controls and steering wheel. The dashboard has operator readouts.
