A kind of device in the material handling business which could be used to raise and transport loads from one place to another is known as a forklift. Each and every forklift component has a specific function. Various parts can be used to move the load either horizontally or vertically.
Mast
The forklift mast refers to all the components which lower and lift the load. There are various kinds of masts for lifting loads to various heights: duplex, triplex, quad and simplex.
Power Supply
Forklifts have four different ways of being powered: electric, gas, propane and diesel. The battery is situated in the cab under the seat. The propane tank is located on the back of the truck. The fuel tank on gas and diesel forklifts is under the rear of the truck.
Cab
Situated within the center of the truck is the forklift cab. This is where the operator sits and accesses all the controls and informational gauges. The gas pedal, steering wheel, tilting controls, brake and lifting controls are all situated within the cab.
Frame
Carrying all the largest forklift components is the truck frame. This includes the counterweights located at the rear which prevents the truck from tipping over when loaded. The frame consists of the overhead guard which protects the operator. The undercarriage holds the driveshaft, axles and wheels.
